What this does

A project is the product, client project, or work area that tasks and releases belong to. Every task and release is scoped to exactly one project.

Before you begin

Creating a project requires the projects.manage permission (Administrators by default).

Creating a project

Administrator permission required

Requires the projects.manage permission.
  1. Open Projects in the sidebar.
  2. Select New Project.
  3. Enter a Name (e.g. "Mobile Application").
  4. Enter a Key — 2-10 uppercase letters/numbers, starting with a letter (e.g. MOBILE). This becomes part of the project's identity in the UI and can't be changed once created.
  5. Optionally add a description.
  6. Select Create Project.
The New Project dialog — the Key becomes part of the project's identity and can't change later.

What happens next

The project appears in the Projects list and becomes available when creating tasks and releases. It starts with 0 open tasks.

The Projects list — status, description, and open task count at a glance.

Archiving a project

  1. Find the project on the Projects page.
  2. Select Archive.
  3. Confirm.

Note

BriefFlow doesn't delete projects. Archiving stops it from accepting new tasks while keeping every existing task, release, and history record intact — and it can be restored at any time from the same page.

Common issues

The Key field rejects what I typed. Keys must be 2-10 uppercase letters or numbers and start with a letter — lowercase input is uppercased automatically, but symbols and spaces aren't allowed.

I need to change a project's key. Keys are immutable once a project is created, since task numbers and other references can come to depend on it. Create a new project instead if the key was wrong.
