What this does
BriefFlow notifies you when something happens on a task you're involved in — as the owner, an assignee, or a participant — both in-app and by email. You're never notified about your own actions, only about things other people do that affect you.
What generates a notification
- Task events — you're assigned, a task's status changes, it's marked blocked, or its release changes.
- Understanding events — your understanding is approved, clarification is requested on it, or it becomes outdated because the task's brief changed.
- QA events — QA starts on a task you're involved in, changes are requested, or it passes.
- Release events — a release you have tasks in is released or cancelled.
- Comment events — someone comments on a task you own or are assigned to.
Checking your notifications
- Select the bell icon in the application header — it shows your unread count.
- The popover shows your most recent notifications. Select View all notifications for the full list.
- Select any notification to mark it read and jump straight to the relevant task, understanding, QA cycle, or release.
On the full Notifications page, use All / Unread to filter, and Mark all read to clear your unread count in one action.
Email notifications
Notification emails mirror the in-app event, with a link back into BriefFlow — they don't include sensitive detail like another assignee's full written understanding or full QA evidence; that stays in the app itself.
Turning off your own email notifications
- Open your Profile.
- Turn off the email notifications toggle.
This only affects task-activity emails — in-app notifications always continue, and account-lifecycle emails (invitations, password resets) aren't affected by this setting.
Note
An administrator can also turn off email notifications workspace-wide from Settings — see Settings. Both your own toggle and the workspace toggle need to be on for you to receive emails.
Common issues
I'm not getting notification emails. Check both your own profile toggle and, if you're an administrator, the workspace-wide toggle in Settings. If both are on and email still isn't arriving, check the delivery status view in Settings for recent send failures.
